The Pontifical Basilica of Saint Anthony, which the Paduan people call “Il Santo” (“The Saint”), is the symbolic monument of Padua and one of the greatest art masterpieces in the world. Recognized by the Holy See as an international sanctuary, it is one of the most-visited and famous places of worship of Christianity.
Each year, the Antonian Complex – which, in addition to the Basilica, also includes the Antonian Museum, the Antoniana Library, the Archive, the Musical Chapel, St. George’s Oratory, and the Scoletta – welcomes almost three million visitors from all over the world and is managed by the Veneranda Arca di S. Antonio, the institution that, since the fourteenth century, is responsible for the protection, restoration, and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Basilica.
Visitors’ contributions and donations from private citizens, foundations and companies play a decisive role in supporting the conservation and restoration of the Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua and its spiritual, historical and artistic treasures.
